Laurel's Obituary - Wed. Nov. 13, 2024.

Hello, everyone. I hope you enjoy learning a little more about my sweetie.

Obituary for Laurel Ann Redd Feddock, 15 May 1962 - 6 Nov 2024

Laurel Ann Redd was born on May 15, 1962, in Inglewood, California, to Betty and Harold Redd, the sixth of seven daughters. As devoted members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Harold and Betty taught their children to pray, to love others, to serve in the Church, and to follow the teachings of Jesus Christ.

They also provided their daughters with piano lessons, and Laurel proved to be especially talented.

At age 21, Laurel was called to serve in the Spain Madrid Mission, where she loved the people to whom she taught the Gospel. While there, she generously shared her much-needed musical ability.

On April 25, 1987, Laurel married Michael Feddock in the Los Angeles Temple and the couple honeymooned for four weeks in Europe, visiting Germany, where Michael had served his mission, Switzerland, and Spain.

Living at the Woodland Hills, California, home of Laurel’s parents, Laurel worked at Prudential while Michael worked in the engineering department at the Los Angeles Temple and attended California State University at Northridge.

Their first child, Breanne, was born on November 18, 1990.

In May of 1992, Michael graduated from CSUN in Finance. Later that year, the family moved to San Carlos, California, and Laurel eventually earned an AA in Technical Arts/Graphics at the College of San Mateo. She soon became a freelance graphic designer.

In 1997, Laurel opened L&M Designs on Laurel St., sharing the office with another designer.

On December 6, 2000, Michael Redd Feddock was born to Laurel and Michael, the third Michael Feddock in a row.

In February of 2004, Laurel’s father, Harold Redd, passed away after an illness of several months.

Laurel’s leadership ability was a special gift of hers and always needed. Her combination of organizational ability, friendliness, devotion to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, love of fun, and compassion made her the perfect person to serve in key positions in the Church. Because of her other talents, she was also called to serve in Scouting, girls’ camp, and teaching capacities, and of course, music callings. All her life, her service was conscientious and wholehearted because of her love of the Gospel.

Laurel first did administrative work and then graphics and web design for the Boy Scouts of America.

In January of 2010, Breanne went to Tehuacan, Mexico, to teach English for four months, and Laurel visited her there. Two years later, Breanne was called to serve as a missionary in the Brazil Santa Maria Mission for the Church.

In 2014, Michael’s father passed away.

In 2017, Breanne married Alex Christensen in the Oakland Temple. She worked hard to become a Registered Nurse in 2021.

In April of 2018, after increasing health problems and a serious illness, Laurel’s mother passed away. Laurel referred to it as “graduating.” Later that same year, Laurel’s sister Karen also passed away after a long, chronic illness. These were difficult times for the family, but they trusted that her mother Betty and sister Karen had been welcomed into the open arms of their parents, grandparents, and our Savior, Jesus Christ.

In 2020, Michael’s mother, Carol, started needing full-time care. He and Laurel shared responsibility for her care with Michael’s sister and her husband, eventually taking full responsibility until she was moved to a Utah care center. She passed away in 2023.

In February of 2024, while Laurel was still serving as ward Relief Society president, she was diagnosed with stage 4 triple-negative breast cancer. After a valiant struggle, Laurel succumbed to her illness on November 6, 2024.

In the face of suffering, Laurel’s gift of expression was a blessing to many as she posted often about the health challenges she was experiencing. Her detailed accounts, including her feelings and fears about her situation, her battle with pain, and her ultimate peace of mind and heart in accepting the will of our loving Heavenly Father, inspired all who knew her.

In addition to those mentioned already, Laurel was preceded in death by brother-in-law Clinton Kennington. Laurel is survived by her husband, Michael Alan Feddock, their daughter Breanne Feddock Christensen and son-in-law Alex Christensen, their son Michael Redd Feddock, her sisters and brothers-in-law Susan and Blair Davis, Patty Kennington-Rooks and Dewane Rooks, Linda and Craig Robinson, Sarah and Ron Pimentel, Jennifer and Peter Kurt, and brother-in-law David Barker.
