3-day Fast to Restore My Immune System

Fasting is one of the methods I want to use to kill this thing.

Starting tonight, I will start a 3-day fast, ending it Wednesday morning. If I'm feeling fab on Wednesday morning I will go as long as two more days. So, up to five days.

As members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we already fast for two meals, or 24 hours, once each month. No food, no drink/water. For this fast, though, we'll be drinking water. In fact, we went and bought mineral water to make sure we don't let our minerals get too low (magnesium, calcium, sodium, and potassium).

"The researchers say fasting 'flips a regenerative switch' that prompts stem cells to create white blood cells, essentially restoring the immune system.

“It gives the OK for stem cells to go ahead and begin proliferating and rebuild the entire system,” said Valter Longo, professor of gerontology and biological sciences.

“And the good news is that the body got rid of the parts of the system that might be damaged or old, the inefficient parts, during the fasting. Now, if you start with a system heavily damaged by chemotherapy or aging, fasting cycles can generate, literally, a new immune system.”
